To comply with social distancing, to protect other patients and staff we request you attend a face to face appointment either alone or with one support person only.

Where appropriate appointments are being converted to Telehealth (either video call or telephone). With the latest change to the Health Insurance Act legislation, you may be charged a private fee or bulk billed as decided by your specialist.

New referrals will be triaged by the specialist and you will be notified as to the most appropriate consultation. This will be done as soon as possible.

Please allow at least 48 hours for script/pathology forms to be sent out after a telehealth appointment (unless urgent and your doctor will ask staff to process on that day).

If you are in a same sex relationship and want to start a family, Fertility Tasmania can offer guidance and support to help you create your family.

Currently Fertility Tasmania does not have a supply of local donor sperm, and uses Californian Cryobank (https://www.cryobank.com/)  to assist and facilitate same sex couples and single women in accessing sperm. Recruitment of known donor sperm is equally facilitated. Treatment with donor sperm many include Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) orIn VitroFertilization (IVF).

Legal considerations

It is important to be aware that we are regulated by the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Act 2008.

Donors, recipients and the people born as a result of donation have legal rights and responsibilities. A person conceived by way of donation has the right to obtain identifying information about their donor once they turn 18 or if their parents apply and the donors consents.

At fertility Tasmania we always act in the best interest of the child.
